Corporate social responsibility (CSR) in Brazil has undergone a significant evolution in the last two decades. While companies used to associate their social investments with one-off philanthropic actions, today the movement is more strategic, guided by impact targets, alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and greater integration with the organizational culture.
In the area of education, the challenges are still urgent. According to the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE), more than 13 million Brazilians over the age of 15 are illiterate, and more than 70% of elementary school students do not reach adequate levels of proficiency in mathematics and reading. This reality is intensified in peripheral territories and regions with a low Human Development Index (HDI), as is the case in many municipalities in the state of Mato Grosso.
At the same time, the number of companies wishing to act in a more transformative way in the regions where they operate is growing. The application of funds via incentive laws has allowed these organizations to direct part of their taxes to structuring educational projects, which go beyond one-off donations and generate measurable and lasting impacts.
A clear example is the Global Goals Educaproject, carried out by NTICS Projetos in Mato Grosso. The project aims to incorporate the UN's SDGs into everyday school life, using a practical and creative approach that promotes values such as citizenship, sustainability and innovation. The initiative is being implemented with the support of local and national companies through the Education and Culture Incentive Law.
In Mato Grosso, more than 5,000 students have already been directly impacted by workshops, teaching kits, interdisciplinary projects and videos produced by the schools themselves, encouraging students to take a leading role. More than 200 teachers have been trained, with physical and digital support materials, connecting the content of the lessons with the real challenges of the territory.
This case demonstrates the power of convergence between public policies, the private sector and organizations specializing in impact management. NTICS acts in exactly this way: devising, structuring, attracting and executing transformative projects through incentive laws, guaranteeing technical excellence, governance and measuring results.
