Global Cities Index 2025: Cities on the Move and Commitments to the SDGs
The Global Cities Index 2025 report by Oxford Economics reveals that cities continue to be the engines of the global economy, responsible for almost 60% of the world's GDP. By evaluating 1,000 cities in five dimensions - Economy, Human Capital, Quality of Life, Environment and Governance - the study shows that urban success is directly linked to a commitment to sustainable development.
Cities like Stockholm, Auckland, Zurich and Copenhagen top the ranking not only for their economic performance, but also for their low carbon emissions, integrated public policies and investments in education and inclusion.
🟢 How do NTICS projects fit into this scenario?
At NTICS, we work to ensure that Brazilian cities make progress on the same pillars assessed by the global index, with projects that promote the UN's Sustainable Development Goals. Examples:
✅ Global Goals Educa
It contributes to SDG 4 (Quality Education) and 17 (Partnerships), bringing sustainability training to public schools and creating a more conscious generation.
✅ Getting to know the SDGs
Itinerant workshops that transform the school environment into a laboratory for climate action and citizenship. It is strongly involved in SDGs 13 (Action against Global Climate Change), 12 (Responsible Consumption) and 11 (Sustainable Cities).
✅ Robotics in Schools
It prepares young people for the future of work and the use of technologies in favor of society, activating SDGs 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure) and 10 (Reducing Inequalities).
✅ PEC - Marine Life
In partnership with companies such as Wilson Sons, it connects coastal communities to ocean protection, in line with SDG 14 (Life in Water) and SDG 15 (Life on Land).
📌 What does the report inspire us to do?
The global index highlights that cities that integrate education, the environment, innovation and social inclusion are more resilient and prepared for the future. This is also our focus: transforming territories into platforms for human development and regeneration.
🔗 We want more Brazilian cities to appear in the next global rankings - and that starts with projects that have a real impact and measure results, always in line with the SDGs.
