Historically, CSR actions in Brazil were concentrated in communities surrounding companies' production units, or in areas with institutional visibility. However, in recent years, there has been a growing understanding that the value chain - especially small and medium-sized suppliers - also needs to be included in social impact strategies.

The movement has gained momentum with the rise of the ESG agenda, which has broadened the view of risks and opportunities within production chains. A recent report by KPMG showed that more than 60% of large Brazilian companies are developing engagement and training programs with their suppliers, and 44% already include social and environmental criteria in their selection and evaluation processes.

In the agribusiness and industry sectors, for example, it is increasingly common to use incentivized projects as a tool for developing the chain. Companies have sought to train their partners with content on sustainability, environmental regeneration, gender equity, financial education and digital transformation.

NTICS Projetos has played a leading role in this process. Working with companies such as John Deere, Whirlpool, Nestlé and Coca-Cola, we have developed customized CSR programs integrated into the strategic goals of these organizations, promoting social transformation in the regions where their supply chains operate.

These projects are structured on the basis of a local and sectoral diagnosis, using incentive laws (such as the Sports Law, Rouanet or Funds for the Rights of Children and Adolescents) to finance initiatives that educate, train, regenerate and strengthen local communities and businesses.

One example was the creation of an education and mental health program for suppliers in an industry in the Southeast, with significant results in reducing turnover and engaging local leaders. Another highlight is an agroforestry training project for rural producers in the north of the country, which is already being expanded to new areas.
