Culture, science and awareness for the preservation of marine life

Created to broaden the connection between society and the seas, NTICS Projetos' Oceanos initiative works with cultural, educational and scientific experiences that awaken care and protagonism in the preservation of marine biodiversity. In line with the UN Decade of the Ocean (2021-2030) and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), the initiative promotes projects that unite innovation, art and science to transform people's relationship with the ocean.

EXPLORING THE OCEANS

Environmental education that raises awareness from an early age

The project Exploring the Oceans project takes sensory, playful and educational activities to public schools to bring children closer to marine biodiversity. In a practical and fun way, it promotes empathy for oceanic beings, strengthens the culture of preservation and encourages children to take a leading role in environmental actions.

In addition to working with students, the project trains teachers based on the Decade of Ocean Science (UN)creating a network of educators prepared to integrate ocean issues into the classroom and multiply the impact within their communities.

Deliverables:

  • Workshops and sensory experiences about marine life;
  • Teacher training with a focus on socio-emotional skills and sustainability;
  • Awareness-raising actions to reduce the incorrect disposal of waste in the school environment;
  • Activities to engage children in environmental practices;
  • Educational materials on ocean science.

BOOK AND DOCUMENTARY SHIPWRECKS

History, culture and underwater science in an unprecedented expedition

The project Shipwrecks rescues the memory of sunken ships along the Brazilian coast, revealing how they are transformed into ecosystems and artificial reefs that contribute to marine biodiversity. Bringing together historical heritage, science and art, the project creates an immersive experience to raise environmental awareness and value Brazil's underwater heritage.

Deliverables:

  • 1 Original documentary for streaming platforms;
  • 1 Photographic art book (deluxe edition, hardcover, 20x20cm);
  • 1 Immersive exhibition circulating in 5 Brazilian capitals;
  • Production of educational and scientific on shipwrecks and artificial reefs;
  • National and international coverage in specialized media.

Additional impacts:

  • Generation of unpublished data for research centers;
  • Fostering the creative economy with photographers, filmmakers and cultural producers;
  • Support for accessible and sensitive environmental education;
  • Valuing the cultural and natural heritage of the oceans.

FERNANDO DE NORONHA FESTIVAL

Art, culture and inclusion in dialog with nature

O Fernando de Noronha Festival connects territory, culture and the environment in a free and inclusive show that transforms the island into a stage for contemporary art and environmental awareness. The event brings together national and international artists, promotes cultural exchange and democratizes access to art with exhibitions, workshops and educational activities.

Deliverables:

  • Free photo exhibitions and video documentaries;
  • Cultural exchange between Brazilian and foreign artists;
  • Creative workshops for children, the elderly and people with disabilities;
  • Production and free distribution of 2,000 art catalogs (248 pages);
  • Integration with the environmental awareness program Friends of the Ocean;
  • Inclusion of the festival in the island's cultural calendar.

  • Strengthening the creative economy and sustainable tourism;
  • Environmental awareness integrated with cultural practices;
  • Encouraging social inclusion and cultural diversity;
